Doc also received a Letter of Commendation from the Argentine Ambassador of the US for donating 100 Units of Blood (12 Units at a time). The son of the Argentine Ambassador had Leukemia and was one of the individuals who received this blood. Later, his Leukemia went into remission.

Doc served 30 years in the military. When he retired, he placed applications with over 100 nursing schools, receiving only one response - this after all his years as a medic in the military. He went on to become an RN and is still in the nursing field.
