Mr. Koon is considered to be a WWII hero for sniping at 65 Japanese soldiers
who were swarming over a U.S. tank stopped by fire in a running battle on a
South Pacific Island. Mr. Koon killed 31 of the Japanese who were attacking
a remaining fellow Private. Although Koon was injured, the Private's life
was saved and Mr. Koon received the Bronze Star for his bravery.
Mr. Koon's image will be among featured images at the Millard Sheets Gallery
during the Los Angeles County Fair September 13-29, 2002 - with an opening
reception on the night of September 16th, 2002.
