The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Pfc. Jerrick M. Petty, 25, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, was killed Dec. 10 in Mosul, Iraq. While guarding a gas station, Petty was attacked by enemy forces. He died of his injuries. Petty was assigned to Company B, 3rd Battalion, 502nd InfantryRegiment, 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.

The incident is under investigation.
