The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Spc. Adolf C. Carballo, 20, of Houston, Texas, died April 10 in Baghdad, Iraq, when shrapnel struck him. Carballo was assigned to the Army,s 1st Battalion, 21st Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

The incident is under investigation.
