The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Spc. Eric S. McKinley, 24, of Corvallis, Ore., died June 13 in Baghdad, Iraq, when his vehicle was attacked by small arms fire and an improvised explosive device. McKinley was assigned to the Army Reserve's Company B, 2nd Battalion,162nd Infantry Regiment, Corvallis, Ore.

The incident is under investigation.
